| Q. Why are all the field
names separate. i.e. (instead of name its Title, Firstname, Middlename, lastname etc)? A. In the earlier days of Dbase programming all
MIS Managers and Dbase Administrators used this format. This allowed users to
access, use, manipulate and provide statistical analysis on any piece of their data.
During solicitation businesses were able to be as personal or as formal as required to
get business. On the personal side they could do a mail merge and say "Hi
Michelle" or be formal and say " Mrs. Michelle Adams."
During the downsizing of America the Dbase Administrator was one of the first
casualties. After several years of office administrators database control field
names were simplified to just three fields. Name, address and city, state zip. For
the masses this became a de facto standard. Problem is the masses became computer
literate home based businesses.
Q. Only one short FAQ page buried under
DbLink 7.1?
A. Product must truly be easy. :)
Q. Help. I get funny characters
when I start typing inputting in my DbLink 7.1!
A. DbLink will automatically
capitalize the first letter of every entry for you. If you attempt to capitalize you
will get those funny characters. This feature will be selectable (on or off)
in the setup for the 98 version due shortly. (you obviously are one of
the good typist) :)
